			<title>Victoria Pendleton inspires new generation of &#145;girls and boys on bikes&#146;</title>

			<description>

Due to start six weeks of warm weather training in Perth before March's World Championships in Copenhagen, Victoria Pendleton - Olympic cycling champion - is encouraging a new generation to get on their bikes.
Unveiled as the new Hovis ambassador as part of a three year sponsorship deal which includes a series of healthy eating initiatives and educational campaigns, it is hoped the cycling star will be a source of inspiration as Hovis' new 'Girl on a Bike'.
Pendleton, 29, first rode for Great Britain in 2002. She won Olympic Sprint Gold in Beijing and a recent overhaul of the Olympic track cycling programme means she has the chance to emulate Sir Chris Hoy and claim three gold medals in London in 2012.

Working with Hovis, she says &quot;I hope to inspire a new generation of 'girls and boys on bikes' who enjoy cycling as much as I did when I was younger and maybe even inspire some champions of the future.&quot;
It was back in 1973 that Hovis launched a TV ad that was to become the nation's favourite-ever ad, &quot;Boy on Bike&quot;, directed by Ridley Scott.
The ad was filmed on Gold Hill in Shaftesbury, Dorset and the iconic bike image is the first thing many people recall when thinking of Britain's most famous breadmaker.
We spoke to Victoria ahead of her departure from UK shores to talk about her plans for the World Championships and Commonwealth Games; the impact of the IOC's recent decision; being a source of inspiration for young people and how she feels about being the new 'Girl on a Bike'.

			<title>Simply Swimtastic</title>

			<description>
				Whether you are learning to swim for the first time, attending life-saving lessons or competing at grassroots level &#150; swimming allows everyone to have fun and stay fit whatever your age.

The sport has grown in popularity since the Beijing Olympics last year - with stars such as Rebecca Adlington providing positive role models for rising talent. The sport now plays a wider role in improving health and fitness levels across the UK.

Nowhere else is this more apparent than at the Kellogg&#146;s Swimtastic Awards 2009, which celebrated some of the country&#146;s most outstanding non-elite achievements in the pool. Aimed at amateur swimmers, the awards recognise people of all ages and abilities as well as those responsible for providing learn to swim lessons.

Some have gone beyond the call of duty to help share the love of swimming with their friends, family and community. Others are so committed to bettering themselves or improving the lives of others that they set the standard for others to draw inspiration from, raising money for noble causes or showing the strength of the human spirit in overcoming adversity.

			<title>Sir Chris Hoy Launches National</title>

			<description>
				Four-time Olympic gold medallist Sir Chris Hoy is today launching a nationwide campaign encouraging Brits to get back on their bikes.

Coinciding with National Bike Week, the &#145;Get On Your Bike&#146; campaign comes in response to a major new report highlighting the decline of cycling in millions of homes across the UK.

Despite massive success at last year&#146;s Olympics, an astonishing 1 in 3 households across the UK are now bike free zones. Three quarters (74%) of Brits admit that watching TV and playing computer games has now replaced learning to ride a bike as a key part of childhood.

According to the research by Kellogg&#146;s Bran Flakes, parents on average have spent double on computer consoles and games than they have on bikes or cycling equipment. Worryingly over one in ten (13%) British parents have never taught their children how to cycle at all.

Many parents blame the lack of safe cycling routes in their local area for this sharp decline. Almost half of Britons [46%] describe where they live as &#145;cycling unfriendly&#146; while the majority [52%] agree that the provision of more, safer cycle paths would be the thing most likely to get them pedalling.

The &#145;Get On Your Bike&#146; campaign aims to get Brits back in the saddle in a bid to rekindle the nation&#146;s love of the bicycle and to inspire our hopes for future Olympic glory.

Sir Chris Hoy said of the findings: &#147;Cycling is such an important skill for children to learn yet parents appear to be placing greater emphasis on computer games. Children need encouragement and support when learning to ride a bike but if parents aren&#146;t interested then it&#146;s never going to happen. It doesn&#146;t bode well for the long-term future of British cycling if we&#146;re having to go around the track on stabilizers!&#148;

			<title>&quot;Monza is really, really close to my heart&quot; says Lewis</title>

			<description>
				This year's Formula 1 season has already been ramped up to fever pitch by jaw-dropping performances from Lewis Hamilton. But the star of the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team isn't ready to kick back and relax just yet. He's determined to ascend the podium at the Italian Grand Prix on September 14th and says, &quot;Monza is unique: you can literally feel the history of the place, and it is really, really close to my heart.

Lewis kicked off the 2008 season in scorching style when he won the first Grand Prix in Melbourne, having qualified on pole. Despite dramatically destroying his car in practice and having to drive under a spare chassis, he still managed to roar into third place in Bahrain, and was back on the podium yet again at the Spanish Grand Prix.

But for F1 fans, the best is yet to come. Lewis and teammate Heikki Kovalainen are locked in tight with each other and that promises double trouble for all-comers both at Monza and at the Singapore Grand Prix on September 28th. The latter event especially marks a milestone in F1 history, being the first ever F1 GP to be raced at night.

But why read about that here when you can hear Lewis tell you about it himself? Our exclusive podcast features the F1 superstar giving the inside track on his amazing last ditch triumph at Monaco, and his thoughts on the rest of the season-not to mention a crafty peek at some of the pictures he keeps on his mobile. Hit the link below and be first past the flag with the hottest Hamilton hype.

			<itunes:duration>00:02:32</itunes:duration>

			<itunes:summary>This year's Formula 1 season has already been ramped up to fever pitch by jaw-dropping performances from Lewis Hamilton.

			<title>The Football Pools relaunch for the 21st century</title>

			<description>
				The Football Pools are back, restoring the place of the 'guess the scores' games in British footballing culture.

The oldest football gaming business in the world celebrates its 85th anniversary this year and during that time the football landscape has changed irrevocably. In its heyday over a third of the population played the Pools every week, with dreams of financial gain hinging on those potentially life changing Saturday teatime football results. The original millionaire maker, the Football Pools has literally given billions to millions.

For generations, the mass distribution of Pools coupons 'around the houses' united the British Public and formed the chatter all week in the run up to the matches. Even players remember the excitement surrounding the Pools and in our video, football legends John Barnes, Alan Hansen, Tony Cascarino, Les Ferdinand, Gordon Banks and Tony Green discuss their memories of choosing 'win, lose or draw.'

			<title>Going For Gold</title>

			<description>
				The Olympic dream doesn't happen over night and those aiming for a place in London 2012 are already swimming, running and biking every day in the hope of bagging one of those highly coveted medals. Every athlete faces challenges in training, but what does it really take to keep that personal Olympic flame burning when the going gets tough?

This new vodcast features Olympic hopefuls Helen Tucker (who has recently won the world Triathlon Championships in Vancouver,) and Ritchie Nicholls, talking about what it would mean to them to stand on that podium in four years time with a gold medal around their neck. They also explain why they have chosen the ultimate challenge of Triathlon and what it will take between now and then to win.

			<title>Give Ronaldo a run for his money</title>

			<description>
				The domestic football league is over and we didn't make it into in Euro 2008, but there will be plenty of British football going on in parks and pitches across the nation this summer!

There is home-grown talent out there - it's just a matter of players being discovered. Who knows where the next Jimmy Greaves or Gary Lineker could come from? Anyone who thinks they could be the next Ronaldo should make a film of their keepy uppy skills and upload it on to the Pringles football competition website for the chance to meet Michael Owen and star along side him in a TV advert.

If you think you have the skills, do you really know what it takes to make it to the big time, the best way to build on your talent or what scouts are looking for in potential future stars?

These questions and more are answered in the video below featuring Dan Magness, a professional football freestyler. His talent has taken him all over the world and he has coached an intimidating number of football legends including Fernando Torres, Michael Owen, Dirk Kuyt and Thierry Henry.

This video shows off Dan's trickery and the man himself talks all about his experiences as a top football coach. Also featured in the video is ex-football scout John Griffin, the man responsible for discovering English football legends like Ian Wright and Stan Collymore. John tells us what he looks for in young players who could one day be lifting the Premier League trophy or even the World Cup, and how nearly every player can improve their technique.

In the meantime, click below to watch the expert Dan Magness at work!

			<title>Go Play Rugby, your country needs you! </title>

			<description>
				There are countless rugby players that have drifted away from the game following school or university as other commitments and interests take over. Now is the time for these players to return and re-discover what made them fall in love with the game in the first place.For those that want to get straight back into the action and experience the thrills and spills of the full 15-a-side game there are clubs waiting to welcome them with open arms. But there are other forms of the game that people can enjoy such as Touch, Beach Rugby and Sevens that can provide a healthy dose of exercise minus some of the physical rigours.
